Your car needs preventative maintenance from your Ford dealer regularly to keep it in top shape. A tire rotation is one of the services the mechanics will perform during routine maintenance. If your tires aren’t rotated regularly, then you’ll notice some signs that you should get a rotation soon to keep your ride comfortable and prolong the lifespan of your tires.

Signs You Need a Tire Rotation

How frequently you need your tires rotated varies. Factors like how often you drive, the conditions of the roads you usually drive on, and whether you tow frequently all impact how quickly your tires wear down.

Most drivers will need to get their tires rotated after every 5,000 to 7,000 miles driven, so take a look at the odometer after you get a rotation and write down how many miles are on it. Then keep an eye on the odometer going forward, and when you notice you’ve driven between 5,000 and 7,000 miles, stop by the dealer to get your tires rotated. Your tires may also let you know that they need to be rotated sooner than expected.

Uncomfortable Ride

You’ll notice more vibrations and road noise when your tires have uneven wear, so always pay attention to your car’s ride quality. Visit the dealer if you’re feeling more vibrations while driving, as they can be uncomfortable for you and potentially put strain on parts of your powertrain.

Losing Pressure

If one of your tires loses pressure faster than the rest, then it means that the tire is under too much pressure. You’ll need to get your tires rotated to give that tire a break.

Visibly Uneven Wear

Inspect your tires regularly to make sure they’re in good condition. Look out for cracks and bulges, and take note of if you can see the tire tread wear indicators. If you can see any of those things, then you need to replace the affected tires. Pay attention to the tread, too. If you can see that the tires at the front of your car have less tread than the tires at the back, then you need to get your tires rotated as soon as you can.

What Happens If You Don’t Rotate Your Tires Regularly?

There are several drawbacks to not getting your tires rotated. The excess vibration and road noise we talked about earlier as one of them. You’ll have to replace some of your tires more frequently than others, too, which is pricey in the long run. Evenly worn tires also handle better and are more reliable when stopping suddenly.
