The 2023 Ford Expedition MAX is a collection of large SUVs packed with advanced features. These four trim levels provide drivers with a longer wheelbase for even more cargo space. Ford has also added large touchscreens, plenty of seating options, and impressive sound systems to these models.
The MAX Editions
Ford designed an exceptionally spacious SUV with the Expedition. For families who want something even larger, there are the MAX editions. The standard-sized Expeditions have a wheelbase of 122 inches. The MAX editions have a considerably longer 131-inch long wheelbase.
This makes a difference in the model’s maximum cargo volume. The maximum cargo volume behind the first row is 104.6 cubic feet in the standard Expedition and 121.5 cubic feet in the Expedition MAX. Additionally, the larger vehicle does impact the maximum towing capacity. When properly equipped, the standard Expedition tows up to 9,300 pounds, while the Expedition MAX has a maximum of 9,000 pounds.
Expedition XLT MAX
The MAX comes with a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The XLT MAX model comes standard with seating for up to eight passengers. There is also a standard 12-inch center stack touchscreen with Wi-Fi capabilities, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. The new car comes with a free trial for navigation, which will eventually require a subscription.
There is available wireless charging. There is the option to add two smart charging USB ports next to the third row.
Expedition Limited MAX
The Limited comes standard with seven-passenger seating with two captain chairs in the second row. This higher trim level adds heated and ventilated seats to the front row and heated seats for the second row. The Limited MAX comes standard with the same 12-inch touchscreen as the XLT MAX. However, this trim level adds the option to upgrade to a 15.5-inch display.
Other upgrades to this edition include a wireless charging pad as standard. Smart charging in the third row is also standard. This model also adds a 12-speaker sound system with a subwoofer.
Expedition King Ranch MAX
The King Ranch MAX has seating for seven passengers. This trim level adds memory settings for the driver’s seat and an eight-way power seat for the first-row passenger. The 15.5-inch touchscreen is standard for the King Ranch. Additionally, this trim level adds a 22-speaker sound system with a subwoofer.
This model also adds a 12.4-inch screen for the driver’s gauge cluster display. There is the option to add an entertainment system behind the dual headrests. This gives the second-row passengers their own displays with Amazon Fire TV capabilities.
Expedition Platinum MAX
Drivers who love comfort will want to consider this top-tier trim level. It includes multi-contour seats with active motion massage. This SUV comes with a seven-passenger seating arrangement. There is the option to change the second-row captain chairs to a bench seat for a maximum of eight passengers.
