Known as one of the best places to live in the state, Morristown, NJ is a lively suburban town with an abundance of excellent restaurants, cafes, and parks. If you’re looking for fun things to do this spring, either with your family, with friends, or alone, you have plenty of options. Here are a few of the best spring activities you’ll find in town.

Batter Up! Historical Base Ball Game & Barnstorming Day

For a fantastic combination of farm-exploring fun and historical baseball, be sure to visit Fosterfields Living Historical Farm on April 22 from 10 am to 4 pm. At the farm, you can meet and feed a variety of farm animals and also enjoy a spot of fishing in the farm’s pretty pond.

You and your kids can also learn about how life once was in Morristown’s rural past with a tour of the farm’s gorgeous 1854 mansion and a demonstration of old-style wood stove cooking. To cap it all off, watch a full baseball game played under historic 1854 rules. You’ll find the farm at 73 Kahdena Road.

Morristown Restaurant Week

In April, foodies and families throughout the area enjoy a week packed with food-related special events, tastings, promotions, giveaways, and more. With over 30 of the town’s finest restaurants participating, you can enjoy this jovial celebration of food from all areas of the country and the world. The Morristown Restaurant Week begins on April 3 and is spread across establishments all around town.

Pathways of History Tour

Anyone who loves history and wants to learn more about Morristown’s rich heritage and traditions should also consider partaking in this amazing family-friendly tour. The event celebrates 300 years of local history and customs with exhibits from 27 local museums and historical sites throughout town and the surrounding area. If you like, you can have a volunteer tour guide to explain the various special exhibitions and musical performances.

It’s also a very well-organized self-guided event, with site plans and activity descriptions to read on your phone or print out. You can start the tour on May 6 and May 7 from 12 noon to 5 pm at the Morris County Historic Society at 68 Morris Avenue, Morristown. If you’d like to see the sites outside town, drive there in your new 2023 Ford 150, enjoying both the county’s scenery and the wonderful handling of your brand-new pickup.

Morristown Marketplace

Local bargain hunters won’t want to miss this excellent open-air craft and vendor market on April 30 from 12 noon until 5 pm. Here, you’ll find all manner of handmade arts and crafts, jewelry, accessories, fashion items, photography, vintage goods, children’s toys, pet products, and charming home decor.
