Trim Levels (Exterior)
There are plenty of options with the 2023 Ford Explorer, thanks to the eight trim offerings: Base, XLT, ST-Line, Timberline, Limited, ST, King Ranch, and Platinum. Beginning with the Base, you get a power liftgate, LED headlights, and 18-inch alloy wheels. Opt for the XLT for heated outside mirrors and roof rails. Engine (Power)
Scattered among the trims, you'll find three engine options in 2023 for the Ford Explorer. The standard engine is a 2.3-liter turbocharged engine that delivers 300 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. If you move up to the ST or the King Ranch, the standard engine is a 3.0-liter turbocharged V-6 cranking out 400 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque. The third and final engine available, standard on the Platinum and optional for the Limited, is a 3.3-liter V-6 hybrid generating 318 horsepower.
Performance
Rear-wheel drive is the standard for all trims except the Timberline. Four-wheel drive is standard for the Timberline and optional for all other trims for better traction and control. You can configure your drive configuration to match current conditions or your preference thanks to the selectable drive modes consisting of Normal, Eco, Sport, Snow/Sand, Slippery, Trail, and Tow/Haul. If off-roading is part of your plans, go with the Timberline, which includes an off-road suspension, a limited-slip differential, and added ground clearance.
Interior
Take your seat in the 2023 Ford Explorer for an enjoyable ride.
