Trim Levels (Exterior)
The 2022 Mustang lineup starts with the EcoBoost, available as a fastback or convertible, featuring LED headlights, LED sequential taillights, and dual exhaust with rolled polished tips. The EcoBoost Premium fastback adds heated sideview mirrors and a blade decklid spoiler. On the GT, offered only as a fastback, you'll find LED fog lamps and a shark fin antenna, while the EcoBoost Premium, which is available as a convertible or fastback, has Pony projection lights. Ford equips the GT Premium fastback with LED front park turn lamps and a rear diffuser, while the GT Premium convertible gets a premium LED lighting group. The Mach 1 comes with a performance rear spoiler and Pony badges, which you'll also find on the Mach 1 Premium. Finally, there's the Shelby GT500, featuring high-intensity discharge lights. The top three trims are only available as a convertible.
Engine (Power)
2022 Mustang EcoBoost models come with a 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine capable of producing 310 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque. With the GT, GT Premium, and Mach 1 models, you can take advantage of a 5.0-liter Ti-VCT V-8 that generates 450 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque. Finally, the Shelby GT500 gets a 5.2-liter Supercharged Cross Plane Crank V-8, putting out more than 760 horsepower and 625 pound-feet of torque. With that much power, the Shelby GT500 can go from zero to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds.
Performance
The 2023 Mustang comes standard with a six-speed manual transmission that gives you an exciting hands-on driving experience and an exceptional road fee. Ford also offers a 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission that delivers smooth acceleration and incredible engine response. With the Shelby GT500, you can take advantage of a TREMEC seven-speed dual-clutch transmission that gives you a refined ride without putting a damper on the mighty V-8 engine. Selectable drive modes adjust the Mustang's handling and response to adapt to various weather and road conditions.
