The Ford F-150 is a capable full-size pickup truck with a trim and configuration that fits any driver's needs. It comes in everything from a simple work truck to a luxury hauler. Trim Levels (Exterior)
The entry-level F-150 is the XL. It has 17-inch steel wheels and manually adjustable side mirrors. Stepping up to the XLT adds 17-inch alloy wheels, fog lights, chrome bumpers, and heated side exterior mirrors. Another step to the Lariat gets you 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, LED fog lights, power-folding side mirrors, and LED taillights. The King Ranch is well equipped with adaptive LED projector headlights, color-keyed bumpers, and a two-tone exterior paint scheme. The Platinum adds to the King Ranch with 20-inch wheels, and the Limited comes with 22-inch wheels, power running boards, and a two-panel moonroof.
The off-road-ready Raptor comes with 17-inch wheels and all-terrain tires. Ford also offers the Tremor with 18-inch wheels, all-terrain tires, and off-road suspension.
Engine (Power)
The F-150's engine lineup starts with a 3.3-liter V-6 that puts out 290 horsepower. If you want more power, a 2.7-liter turbo V-6 is available with 325 horsepower, or a 5.0-liter V-8 that generates 400 horsepower. You can also get the F-150 with a 3.5-liter turbo V-6 that churns out 400 horsepower. The Raptor gets a 3.5-liter V-6 with 450 horsepower, and you can also opt for a hybrid powertrain with 430 horsepower.
Performance
Every 2022 F-150, regardless of the powertrain, works with a 10-speed automatic transmission with three overdrive gears to help maximize power. The F-150 provides a comfortable ride on the road, and if you have the Raptor or Tremor, it tackles off-road terrain with ease. When equipped with the twin-turbo V-6, it can tow up to 14,000 pounds. The diesel V-6 can tow 12,100 pounds.
Interior
There's room for up to six in the F-150's larger cabs. The base trim has just the basics but depending on the model, and you can get heated front seats, ventilated front seats, leather upholstery, heated rear seats, and power-adjustable front seats. Technology in this truck includes a 12-inch touch screen in the Lariat and above, but all trims have Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth. The King Ranch has an eight-speaker B&O stereo and wireless charging, and the Limited upgrades to an 18-speaker stereo system.
Safety Features
Every 2022 Ford F-150 has advanced driver aids. Even the base XL has a rearview camera, lane-departure warning, and a forward collision warning system with automatic braking. The XLT and above add a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, rear automatic braking, and a lane-keep assist system.
Stepping up to the King Ranch adds adaptive cruise control and an evasive steering assist feature that works with the forward collision warning system to help you avoid collisions, and the Limited trim comes with Ford's Co-Pilot360 Active 2.0 group. This includes BlueCruise hands-free driving on certain highways.
